Screenshot Question
I'm not sure if this question is considered noobish but I wanted to know what you need exactly to take screenshots of items or the game. Do you need a program or is there something I'm missing?
Help would be appreciated thank you. |

it should probably be noted, that you get a little message telling you where your screenshot was saved as well as the name of the file.
also note, that the shot is saved as a bitmap (.bmp) file, which is usually too big for publication on the internet, so you need to convert it to jpg or gif file. The easiest way to do so is to open paint, load your picture and then click 'Save As'. Choose JPG as file type and your pic sould be small enough to share with others |

You 'can' use the Guild Wars' own screenshot system. But as mentioned above, not only does it leave a daft-looking 'screenshot 00001.1.497.bmp' message across the screen, but it also saves as a BMP. Which means if you want to do anything other than look at them, you're going to have to go to the trouble of converting them all. If you have the software and the know-how you can automate this process, but otherwise you'll have to do each manually and individually.
I personally prefer to use a screenshot program such as FRAPS. You can choose what file format the image saves in, where it saves, and you don't get the same scrolling message on the GW screen. |
